Tradum was settled milenia ago, during one of humanity’s great diaspora. Though the world’s earliest years were shaky, they survived and built a prosperous society.
After several centuries of experimentation, the citizens of Tradum settled on a true Participatory Democracy to fulfill their government needs. The world has always maintained a fairly high level of technology, so this has been fairly simple to maintain.
Tradum (pronounced “TREY-dem) maintains no standing army and few obvious system defenses. This does not mean the world is defenseless. There may be no legal restrictions on weapons possession, and almost no citizen is armed, but every citizen is, at some point, a member of one of the Citizen’s Leagues – publicly run and led defense and response groups. Each is well run, its activities are open to the public, and concentrates on a (usually) different aspect of society (disaster response, customs, etc). The system appears to be unique, but works quite well. In addition, owing to events in the distant past, most citizens maintain some sort of firearm within their dwellings – and knows how to use them effectively.
Tradum itself may be ‘non-agricultural’, but this doesn’t stop the society from growing most of its own food. Vast underground caverns have been hollowed, and are used for everything from residences, to farm production (even large animal herds), to open flight arenas – Tradum’s low gravity allows for easy gliding, and even some self-powered flight. This last activity is a popular tourist stop.

Astute readers of science fiction may recognize this system name, and rightly so. This name was unashamedly borrowed from a great series which Heavily influenced the Traveller RPG – The Dumarest Saga, written by E. C. Tubb from 1967 to 2008.
I make no claim to this name; I am only using it for this home brew setting.
