There is little to recommend Esslin as a tourist or commercial destination. Although the local economy is very efficient, very little is produced here.
Most of the system’s reported resources are locked into the bedrock of the system’s numerous large worlds, and Esslin’s tech base isn’t sufficient to support extraction. Ancient reports, now centuries out of date, indicated large deposits of various rare earth elements could be found in quantity, but new surveys would need to be completed before any mining would be contemplated, and the world’s squabbling governments do not have sufficient funds or local support to even consider pursuing this pipe dream.
Until such time as the system can solve its differences, and find funding, Esslin is likely to remain a backwater for the foreseeable future.

This world’s name was taken from that great scifi book series, The Dumarest Saga, written by E. C. Tubb, and published from 1967 to 2008. I make no claim to the name; I am only using it as an homage to a series which heavily influenced me (and, according to legend, Traveller itself).
