Wiseman’s Planet was settled by followers of a charismatic leader in past millenia. The original reasons this world was settled first (rather than the cold, but more habitable, world (New World) in the sixth orbit) have been lost to history, but once that decision was made this society made the most of what they had.
Once space travel was reestablished they settled the world now called Loren’s World. It is mainly an agricultural world, and enough output can be produced, even with its hot climate, to greatly supplement local food supplies. “New World”, the cold but habitable world in the system’s sixth orbit, has recently been opened for settlement, after decades of research and preparation. The settlement will be renamed at a later time.
The system itself sees heavy merchant traffic from other worlds in the region. This society is not, itself, currently expansionistic, but it does send out frequent anti-piracy patrols, helping to protect its merchant fleet, as well as assisting nearby worlds, when necessary.
[This system is an “homage” to one of Traveller’s great contributors and developers, Loren K Wiseman. He is missed.]
