Velor is ruled by a religious dictatorship. While its leaders don’t forbid offworld contact, they do absolutely nothing to encourage it. No starport has been constructed; indeed, no designated landing point has been declared nor cleared, and no beacons or satellites of any sort are in place.

Starship captains wishing to conduct business must do it themselves; they must travel to individual locations, negotiate with each party they wish to purchase from, and arrange (and pay for) all local transport – no offworld technology is allowed at all, including all record keeping, communication, and transport methods. This makes any potential trade prohibitively expensive and particularly time consuming.

To date, very few offworlders have made the attempt, and none can be said to have succeeded.

Similarly, tourism is not discouraged, but any visitors must deal with the same limitations. Tourism is almost unheard of on Velor.

The rest of the system is almost completely untouched. Travel times to the inner system are prohibitive due to the system’s dense primary star. With no real sources of fuel or supplies in the inner system it is likely to remain untouched for many years to come.

12 VELOR X4579DA-2 Hi HZ

This is my 33rd hand-generated “System of the Day” using the Traveller5 rules. My goal is to publish one random system per day in 2020.
This world’s name was taken from that great scifi book series, The Dumarest Saga, written by E. C. Tubb, and published from 1967 to 2008. I make no claim to the name; I am only using it as an homage to a series which heavily influenced me (and, according to legend, Traveller itself).
This system was generated by hand with a set of dice I have owned for over 30 years, using the Traveller5 rules. Feel free to use this system in your own campaigns, but please do not publish them for profit, nor publish without obtaining prior permission. Thank you!

As always, comments and input are appreciated. Keep On Travelling!
