KVASIR is a poor world which has decent industrial and commercial production. This is good, as the populace needs the income to pay for its food imports. Adequate food availability seems to be a constant issue, and prices can become ridiculous at the worse times. Fortunately, “food riots” aren’t really much of an an issue.

Most of Kvasir’s population is centered around the world’s single “ocean”, and the series of shallow lakes which surround it. This region is surrounded by a low mountain range (in reality, a wide ring of larger hills), which protects the area from the desert storms which can rage over the rest of the planet. A rare bad storm will be of sufficient height and strength to boil over these hills. When this occurs (on average, 2-3 times in a standard year) the entire area is brought to a standstill. Visiting ships are forced to remain on the world for up to seven extra days, as wind gusts are far too extreme at higher elevations. Several crashes have occured, including several attempted by very experienced ship captains.

Kvasir’s deserts are inhabited by small groups of tough clansmen, who are (by necessity) experts in desert survival. These groups trade in rare gems and spices, gathered from locations in the deepest deserts which only the can locate. These clansmen are rather… clannish, and view all outsiders with extreme disdain and, at best, discourtesy.
