Yi is another large, high gravity ocean world. This poses few challenges, however, as Yi imports sufficient high technology to make its few habitats comfortable. As there is no surface land (the tops of the highest underwater mountains are several kilometers below the ocean surface), Yi has two primary types of habitats: free floating towns, and tethered cities. Several deep underwater cities have been built, as well. These can only be reached via submarine, which is also a preferred method of travel on Yi. The world’s inhabitants are mainly “standard” humans, but also includes a population of aquatic humans.
Yi does not have a downport, only an extensive orbital facility, where almost all trade, and much of the world’s limited manufacturing, is performed. The port itself is well protected by suitable defenses, and a small non-jump capable fleet is maintained to patrol the system. This fleet includes several craft capable of both space flight and deep ocean operations.
Several other worlds in the system have been colonized.
The stormy world in the primary star’s first orbit was found to be somewhat habitable – as long as settlements were limited to a small number of sheltered valleys. This has allowed some on site scientific research to be conducted, for surveyors to locate some unique mineral deposits, opening the way for further development.
The habitable world in the system’s 6th orbit is rather cold, but still habitable. This world was settled by an enterprising company, utilizing numerous cold-farming techniques and technoligies.
