Igar is a small, relatively unimportant agricultural world. Though Igar’s population level is low, its tech base permits it to maintain a high level of production, and its output is shipped to several nearby worlds. The world and system also has a sufficient level of available resources to support future growth.
Igar’s population is harmonious, having few disagreements over how the government and society should be run. The government apparatus is geared to support and protect its agricultural and ranching interests.
There is a new “gold rush” currently in its early stages in Igar’s outer system. Small, but rich, deposits of various heavy metal elements, including lanthanum (vital for starship jump drives) have been discovered, and several thousand independent belters have swarmed the world, each looking to make the next big strike. Violence has been reported as tempers, expectations, and frustrations rise, and the government may send in troops soon to maintain order. If and until this occurs, potential visitors are advised to proceed with extreme caution.

This world’s name was taken from that great scifi book series, The Dumarest Saga, written by E. C. Tubb, and published from 1967 to 2008. I make no claim to the name; I am only using it as an homage to a series which heavily influenced me (and, according to legend, Traveller itself).
