Weintz is an unimportant, sparsely populated backwater system, with around 5000 permanent inhabitants. The world’s only town and starport are located in a deep gorge, where sufficient oxygen accumulates to allow breathing without aid. However, care must still be taken, as heavy exertion can still create problems; individuals performing stressful work are advised to use breathing aids. The location of the port also makes landings somewhat difficult, and care must be taken by pilots. Crashes, while not a common event, do occur at least once per standard year.

Weintz’ downport is kept in suitable repair, but has minimal security arrangements. Visiting ships are advised to post their own security details and remain alert, as ships have been stolen right from the docking “bays”, which are little more than open areas surrounded by a chain link fence. Note: the high walls of the port’s location make it easy for anyone to easily keep tabs on anything which occurs in most docking bays.

One company from a nearby system has established research facilities on the stormworld in the system’s 1st orbit. This operation is researching power collection from that world’s extreme lightning events. Working conditions are known to be “rather dangerous”, and the company is always looking for individuals willing to work in a high risk environment for good pay. Injuries are reported frequently, and the fatality count, while not publicly published, is known to be high.

Scientists are interested in the system’s farthest planet (orbit 13). This world has three large moons, all of which are fairly large, generating tremendous tidal forces on the world. It is speculated this world’s oceans are warm enough to support large quantities of life. Little research has been conducted, however, due to the lack of sufficient local (in-system) facilities and the world’s extreme distance from the inner system.

This is my 48th hand-generated “System of the Day” using the Traveller5 rules. My goal is to publish one random system per day in 2020.
———————————————————-
This world’s name was taken from that great scifi book series, The Dumarest Saga, written by E. C. Tubb, and published from 1967 to 2008. I make no claim to the name; I am only using it as an homage to a series which heavily influenced me (and, according to legend, Traveller itself).

This system was generated by hand with a set of dice I have owned for over 30 years, using the Traveller5 rules. Feel free to use this system in your own campaigns, but please do not publish them for profit, nor publish without obtaining prior permission. Thank you!

As always, comments and input are appreciated. Keep On Travelling!
