Quegan is a minor, backwater system. Quegan is in a far orbit of a gas giant, and the world itself has an unusual ecology, from which a number of interesting pharmaceuticals are extracted. These are of value for medical research, though there are rumors of potential use as illicit drugs for certain other compounds. Indeed, it is believed organized crime is gaining a foothold in the world’s government, though this likely just a rumor, as there is little actual crime here, and not much has changed in a generation.

There is little else of interest on Quegan, and even less of interest in the remainder of the system. A radioactive world, located in the companion star’s 6th orbit, was once under consideration for colonization, but the environment proved to be too hazardous; radiation levels are too high for human habitation.

ADVENTURING OPPORTUNITIES – A small list of potential situations. Each must be fleshed out by the GM.

1. Smuggling Job. The player’s ship is approached by a shipyard worker. He wants someone to carry a small package, an envelop, to his brother-in-law, who works in the starport at their next destination. The package is sealed and tamper-resistant, and he assures them it is mostly legal; it’s cash for his niece’s college fund (she graduates in a month). He’s merely trying to avoid a hefty credit transfer tax imposed by that world’s uncompromising government. Will a player accept the job? The job, as stated, is mostly legitimate – except the money is payment for a drug shipment, which will become obvious when the recipient attempts to hire the player to bring drugs back.

2. Missing Shipment. A shipment of pharmaceuticals has gone missing. The players are hired to find them. This turns out to be fairly simple, as they were placed in the wrong warehouse. Oops. However, the tamper-resistant seals have been expertly opened. Then resealed. Will the players (or authorities) discover this, and the hidden drug shipment, before the ship leaves?

This is my 70th hand-generated “System of the Day” entry, using the Traveller5 (T5) rules, from Far Future Enterprises. My goal is to publish one random system per day in 2020.
——————————
This world’s name was taken from that great scifi book series, The Dumarest Saga, written by E.C. Tubb, and published from1967 to 2008. I make no claim to this world name; I use it only as an homage to a series which heavily influenced me (and, according to legend, Traveller itself).

This system was generated by hand, using a set of dice I have owned for over 30 years, and using the Traveller5 (T5) rules set. Feel free to use this system in your own campaigns. Permission is granted to publish these results, as long as the copyrights of Far Future Enterprises are not violated, and no money is charged for them.

As always, comments and input are appreciated.
KEEP ON TRAVELLING!
