There is little to recommend this backwater, almost-forgotten system. Skedaka is cursed with low gravity, little water, and a thin atmosphere. There is no formal government; people live their lives as best they can. Even the few crime lords on the world don’t attempt to control the area; there is little point in doing so, and even less to gain. Pirates in the region rarely visit here, as there are few markets for them to sell their stolen goods, and few other visiting ships to consider as potential targets.
Skedaka was settled rather than the world in the habitable zone, due to that world’s fierce and frequent storms. Many attempts have been made for colonization, only for all to fail. The world’s storms are too harsh and frequent. At least a dozen former colony sites lie scattered across the world, all in various states of abandonment and deterioration. That world’s comparatively large, close-orbitting satellite also subjects the world to frequent seismic activity. Earthquakes are a frequent occurence, and volcanoes are scattered throughout the rough and mountainous regions.
Even with Skedaka’s lack of government and apparent disjointed social nature, life here isn’t the worst possible. People tend to look out for each other, charity is commonplace, and few here are truly desperate.
There are several smaller settlements scattered throughout the Skedaka system. Most of these consist of independent miners and belters, though one moon is being slowly strip mined by a corporation, and another group has established a small democratic society on another small, frozen world.

This world’s name was taken from that great scifi book series, The Dumarest Saga, written by E.C. Tubb, and published from1967 to 2008. I make no claim to this world name; I use it only as an homage to a series which heavily influenced me (and, according to legend, Traveller itself).
