Shajuk is a rich agricultural world. It is ruled by a hereditary charismatic leader, who is fully supported by the populace; there is little actual dissention amongst the populace, which is unusual for any world with more than a million citizens.
Shajuk is poor in resources, and relies on its agricultural output for income, though the tourist trade also supplements the economy. One reason for the tourism is the world’s aggressive carnivores, which are intrusive, and have been found to love the taste of human flesh. These tiger-like beasts are large, intelligent (for animals), and aggressive, and pose a significant challenge for hunters.
While most citizens, and even standard police, are not allowed to (or do not) carry weaponry, there is a subclass of citizens, predictably named The Hunters, who are allowed to carry weapons at will, as their job requires it. They track down and kill these aggressive animals (and others) when they work their way into civilized regions, threatening the population. These Hunters are very popular, especially in outlying settlements where these carnivores can be a significant problem. Most Hunters are proud of the job they perform, and do not flaunt their position. There are, of course, always exceptions. Most of these Hunters are also somewhat intolerant of offworld hunters and tourists, who they see as a scourge on the ecology. They recognize the need for the money these tourists bring to Shajuk, however, and try to do their part.
There are two other settled worlds in the system. The frozen iceworld in the 5th orbit has been settled by a small group of offworlders, who keep to themselves. They may be refugees from a civil war on a nearby world, but stories vary.
The frozen world in the seventh orbit is a small community of less than a hundred people. This group is known to receive frequent visits by ships which never visit Shajuk, and occasional rumors hint at the world being a support base, or at least a hideout, for pirates in the region. If this is the case, then it is a poor choice for a base, as far as authorities are concerned, as this world has no facilities to support ships of any sort.
The furthest planet in the system (orbit #12) is believed to be a captured world, as its composition is different than most other worlds in the system, and it has a highly elliptical orbit. Little is truly known about the world, however.

ADVENTURING OPPORTUNITIES – A small list of potential situations. Each must be fleshed out by the GM.
1. Investigation. The players are hired to pose as an offworld hunting party, and investigate a specific Hunter on Skajuk. This Hunter has had a number of offworld tourists perish at the hands of native carnivores while guiding hunts, and officials wish to know if his claims of innocents are true, or if he is leading the offworlders to their deaths on purpose (or at least not giving them proper instructions, etc). Can the players determine the truth, and survive attacks by the vicious carnivores?

This is my 76th hand-generated “System of the Day” entry, using the Traveller5 (T5) rules, from Far Future Enterprises. My goal is to publish one random system per day in 2020.
——————————
This world’s name was taken from that great scifi book series, The Dumarest Saga, written by E.C. Tubb, and published from1967 to 2008. I make no claim to this world name; I use it only as an homage to a series which heavily influenced me (and, according to legend, Traveller itself).

This system was generated by hand, using a set of dice I have owned for over 30 years, and using the Traveller5 (T5) rules set. Feel free to use this system in your own campaigns. Permission is granted to publish these results, as long as the copyrights of Far Future Enterprises are not violated, and no money is charged for them.
