Eborix is a fairly unimportant world in the region. Originally settled for a lanthanum mine (an element critical for Jump Drives), the population continued to grow, reaching its current level of 500 million recently. Though the lanthanum mines are played out, there are other minerals deep beneath the world’s surface, and this provides much of Eborix’ economic output.

Eborix is currently led by a popular leader, who ousted the previous unpopular ruler in a bloodless coup. She has implemented drastic laws to combat high levels of violence (brought on, apparently, by previous leaders’ lack of fiscal responsibility and disastrous policies), and these efforts appear to be working; violence is down, productivity is increasing, and tourists are slowly coming back to the system. This leader has promised to reduce controls once society, “gets itself back under control”. Although there is still a ways to go, society does seem to be on the mend.

One new policy recently implemented is increased availability of education. The new leader has stated that, “many citizens have acted like undisciplined, uneducated children; we need to change this if we are to be respected in the region.” To combat this she has increased funding for educational efforts. Another apparent goal from this incentive is increasing Eborix’ technology base. Some sources have claimed this is so the leader (or her eventual replacements) can go on a binge of conquest. These claims are largely ignored, as Eborix has no space fleet, and no real capability to construct one.

Eborix does, however, have some defenses. The world’s government contracts with an offworld mercenary company to provide patrols near the world, and escort customs officials during their inspections. This system has been in place for 15 years, after a wave of pirate attacks, which caused great harm to the world’s economy. The mercenary outfit signed a 30 year contract with the government. Considering the expense of the contract, there are a few government detractors campaigning to have it voided. Most officials and citizens are fine with keeping the contract in place, however; they remember the devastation these attacks caused, evidence of which can still be seen from orbit.

This system was generated by hand, using a set of dice I have owned for over 30 years, and using the Traveller5 (T5) rules set. Feel free to use this system in your own campaigns. Permission is granted to publish these results, as long as the copyrights of Far Future Enterprises are not violated, and no money is charged for them.
