Vogruyama is a fairly important industrial world which is undergoing changes. Having recently developed the technology to construct and repair jump drives, the government has funded improvements to the world’s starport. Along with added berthing space, the port will soon feature a minor ship repair facility. Visitors to the system can’t help but notice the level of construction and disruption of normal starport routine, as well as a new highport in the very early stages of construction.

Delcant, in the system’s 6th orbit, was established as a mining colony, extracting the world’s rich deposits. Delcant is also suitable for farming, even with its colder climate, and is managing to produce decent levels of agricultural output. Of course, some of the world’s dangerous native wildlife has been objecting to these intrusions, making life even more difficult at times.

A small colony has been established far out in the system. The iceworld in the system’s 12th orbital position has been settled by colonists, supported by local companies, who hope to eventually develop mines in the world’s ice covered valleys, where extensive mineral deposits have been detected. The coloniests have set up shop in a series of geothermal heated caverns, and to this point seem to be doing quite well.

The system’s extremely distant planetoid belt has only been explored brielfly. A new effort to chart the planetoids and potential resources has recently been initiates, and the government is looking for contractors to conduct surveys.

ADVENTURING OPPORTUNITIES – A small list of potential situations. Each must be fleshed out by the GM.

1. Survey. For whatever reason (down on their luck, exchange of services for repairs, etc) the players have contracted to survey a portion of the system’s distant planetoid belt. They must deal with the usual problems: perishable supplies, months on end in an enclosed space with the same people, sensor glitches, equipment malfunctions). In addition there is a serious unexpected issue: a group of pirates is hiding in the belt. Their ship is damaged and they are desperate for supplies. But they have a significant advantage over the players’ ship: it is armed, and has a speed advantage. How will the players deal with this problem? Can their edge in sensors help them?

This is my 80th hand-generated “System of the Day” entry, using the Traveller5 (T5) rules, from Far Future Enterprises. My goal is to publish one random system per day in 2020.

This system was generated by hand, using a set of dice I have owned for over 30 years, and using the Traveller5 (T5) rules set. Feel free to use this system in your own campaigns. Permission is granted to publish these results, as long as the copyrights of Far Future Enterprises are not violated, and no money is charged for them.
