Sabela is another unimportant world, lying near the region’s main lanes, so it does see a little commercial traffic. Most merchant ships will find little of value to fill their cargo holds, however. The world produces few products, generally for local use, though a lucky, connected, ot diligent individual may find some goods for sale from “backwoods” salesmen. Their products consist mainly of handmade items, various minor gemstones, and the like. These won’t be valuable items, but will sometimes provide a small net income on nearby worlds.
Although the world is not classified as “poor”, it may as well be; Sabela’s government is uncaring about its citizens’ welfare, for the most part, and does little to improve their living conditions. To be fair, it also does little for its few wealthier citizens, either. Many citizens (about 40%) live in small communities located far from the starport and capital city. Because of the general lack of government support, most citizens tend to be rather self sufficient, though there is a good “community vibe”: people will go out of their way to help each other in difficult times, even people they don’t actually like; everyone falls on hard times eventually, and one less person in the community is one less person to help out with other problems.
No other world in the system is inhabited, as no other world is really worth the effort. There are rumored to be some significant mineral deposits in the system, though there are no records available to support these claims.

This is my 82nd hand-generated “System of the Day” entry, using the Traveller5 (T5) rules, from Far Future Enterprises. My goal is to publish one random system per day in 2020.

This world’s name was taken from that great scifi book series, The Dumarest Saga, written by E.C. Tubb, and published from 1967 to 2008. I make no claim to this world name; I use it only as an homage to a series which heavily influenced me (and, according to legend, Traveller itself).
