Canides is a fairly important system, possessing large reserves of mineral wealth. However, much of these reserves are buried deep under the surfaces of the system’s worlds and satellites.

Canides was originally settled by a mining company, which later went bankrupt. A number of miners and their families remained, formed a new government, continued to develop the mines, and built new industries.

As Canides’ population grew over the next few centuries the government became more corrupt. With time, the populace grew sick of it, and a revolution occurred. The new government lasted a century before once again being removed. The current leadership has the full support of the people, and significant improvements have been made. Local infrastructure has been greatly increased, and local manufacturing capabilities are rivaling those of larger, nearby systems.

Overall, the citizens and leadership of Canides are very happy with their current situation. The government may be somewhat overbearing at times, but is efficiently, and honestly, run. The government maintains a higher TL local Navy, importing some components from bearby systems, in order to deter piracy, as well as maintain customs, etc.
