La Conde is a minor system, known for its cold environment and very thin atmosphere. Most citizens live in extensive cave systems either natural or manufactured), where the local atmosphere accumulates in sufficient quantity to allow them to reside without needing to wear compressors/oxygen sources. Some of the caverns which have been discovered are truly breathtaking in their beauty, according to most visitors, making them a minor tourist attraction.

Other than these facts, there is little to truly recommend La Conde to visitors. The local starport is capable of some ship repairs, but costs tend to be prohibitive, as La Conde’s tech level isn’t sufficient, and all parts (and even some critical shipyard workers) must be brought in from other systems.

The unimaginatively named Frozen, in the system’s distant 8th orbit, has suffered through a war. This was not a short war, and it has decimated the local infrastructure, as well as killing tens of thousands. The local societies have recently formed an unstable peace, as none of them are in a condition to continue the war. All three are now in dire need of assistance from outside sources, if further deaths are to be avoided.

ADVENTURING OPPORTUNITIES – A small list of potential situations. Each must be fleshed out by the GM.

1. Relief Charter. A regional relief agency needs a ship to bring relief supplies to the war torn world of Frozen, in La Conde’s outer system. They cannot pay regular charter rates, as most of their funds go towards relief supplies, so they will ask the players for ‘assistance rates’. Will the players do the “right thing”, and provide the requested aid? If they do, there will turn out to be ample economic (and even heroic?) opportunities on this war torn world (rescues, rebuilding assistance, even transport jobs for cargoes which are late to market).

This is my 96th hand-generated “System of the Day” entry, using the Traveller5 (T5) rules, from Far Future Enterprises. My goal is to publish one random system per day in 2020.

——————————
This world’s name was taken from that great scifi book series, The Dumarest Saga, written by E.C. Tubb, and published from 1967 to 2008. I make no claim to this world name; I use it only as an homage to a series which heavily influenced me (and, according to legend, Traveller itself).

This system was generated by hand, using a set of dice I have owned for over 30 years, and using the Traveller5 (T5) rules set. Feel free to use this system in your own campaigns. Permission is granted to publish these results, as long as the copyrights of Far Future Enterprises are not violated, and no money is charged for them.

As always, comments and input are appreciated.
KEEP ON TRAVELLING!

    1. Very true. Thus if they DO, there should be extra incentives for them. If not, well, they find another ship, and the players miss out. Then hear about the added payoffs later, from an npc ship.
That’s how I run it, anyway. lol
