Shrine is a minor world, known for its harsh atmosphere and deep cavern systems. The initial habitats were excavated with fusion torches, but a small number of natural caverns were discovered, and many are being used. These caverns, alas, do not hold enough interest for tourism.

Although Shrine’s law level is almost non-existant, very few citizens carry weapons of any sort, as there is just no need. Other than the environment, life here is fairly peaceful. This wasn’t always the case, however.

A group of pirates were recently ousted from their remote base, established on the system’s furthest frozen iceball of a world (orbit 12). As Shrine’s “navy” consists of a trio of SDBs, assistance was gained from another nearby system (whose merchant fleet was being attacked), plus several mercenary units. After a difficult series of actions, the pirates were capured, destroyed, or driven off. This world is now a temporary prison, as officials decide what to do with the remaining prisoners. Some have called for the establishment of a permanent prison, an option which is garnering some interest in nearby systems.

NOTE: These systems, as generated, are generic. Referees will need to modify the system and descriptions to fit their campaign needs.

This is my 105th hand-generated “System of the Day” entry, using the Traveller5 (T5) rules, from Far Future Enterprises. My goal is to publish one random system per day in 2020.

——————————
This world’s name was taken from that great scifi book series, The Dumarest Saga, written by E.C. Tubb, and published from 1967 to 2008. I make no claim to this world name; I use it only as an homage to a series which heavily influenced me (and, according to legend, Traveller itself).
——————————
This system was generated by hand, using a set of dice I have owned for over 30 years, and using the Traveller5 (T5) rules set. Feel free to use this system in your own campaigns. Permission is granted to publish these results, as long as the copyrights of Far Future Enterprises are not violated, and no money is charged for them.

As always, comments and input are appreciated.
KEEP ON TRAVELLING!
