Seland is an unimportant world, located off a minor trade route. It is mainly known for its extraction and production of several rather unique ‘oceanic’ chemicals, as well as certain gems, the later being mined from deep, dangerous caverns. These specific caverns are known for their relative proximity to the ocean depths, and a strict process of containment is necessary to ensure the main habitable areas aren’t endangered. These processes puts the miners straight into the ‘line of fire’, with almost no chance of survival if a leak is sprung. The danger is real, but so is the potential payout; while most of the profits go to the mine owners (it is not an inexpensive venture, after all), the miners are paid well for risking their lives. Those few gems mined are highly valued by the elite of many worlds.

The remainder of the system is rather uninteresting, consisting of several frozen worlds and a couple other planets with conditions worse than on Seland…

NOTE: These systems, as generated, are generic. Referees will need to modify the system and descriptions to fit their campaign needs.

ADVENTURING OPPORTUNITIES – A small list of potential situations. Each must be fleshed out by the GM.
1. RUSH TRANSIT. A shipping agent approaches the party’s ship owner as they are getting ready to leave Seland. He needs a small cargo delivered to a nearby world ASAP; fortunately this is already their next declared destination. A ship which was chartered was heavily damaged by the world’s atmosphere, and the off world corporation which purchased the lot of gems expects delivery within two weeks. They will pay top rates for rush delivery, plus a large bonus, and the package will not require much room.
What the PCs won’t be told: the original contracted ship was sabotaged in an effort to delay fulfillment of the contract. The saboteur, who will stop at nothing to make sure the contract isn’t filled, is already a registered passenger on the PC’s ship…

This is my 130th hand-generated “System of the Day” entry, using the Traveller5 (T5) rules, from Far Future Enterprises. My goal is to publish one random system per day in 2020.
——————————
This world’s name was taken from that great scifi book series, The Dumarest Saga, written by E.C. Tubb, and published from 1967 to 2008. I make no claim to this world name; I use it only as an homage to a series which heavily influenced me (and, according to legend, Traveller itself).

This system was generated by hand, using a set of dice I have owned for over 30 years, and using the Traveller5 (T5) rules set. Feel free to use this system in your own campaigns. Permission is granted to publish these results, as long as the copyrights of Far Future Enterprises are not violated, and no money is charged for them.

As always, comments and input are appreciated.
KEEP ON TRAVELLING!
