Dradea is a world of some importance locally. Established as a mining colony, the world’s location along a major trade run solidified its importance, and the world quickly grew. Although economic conditions have been rougher in recent decades, the world’s population is once again on the rise, and Dradea’s importance is growing, especially in the small starship (under 1000-ton) manufacturing field.
Dradea maintains good relations with other nearby, higher technology systems, and imports necessary ship technology at decent pricing, allowing its shipbuilding industries to remain fairly competitive. The yards are also fairly active conducting ship overhauls and upgrades.
Dradea’s local industries are very efficient, and the world is a major producer of consumer goods. It is fast becoming a powerhouse in robotics industries, where its tech base is significantly higher (TL C) than other technologies in the system. One area where its technology lags behind is the medical field; most of the system’s hospitals lag far behind, and are a point of contention amongst the citizenry in this otherwise peaceful system.
Much of the necessary raw materials for industry are provided by other societies in the system, which were also initially established as mining concerns. Though each of the governments and societies are independent, good relations exist between most of them. There has been some discussion of merging the local governments, though this has only been discussed in a philosophical sense; no plans are even theorized for a possible merger at this point.

This world’s name was taken from that great scifi book series, The Dumarest Saga, written by E.C. Tubb, and published from 1967 to 2008. I make no claim to this world name; I use it only as an homage to a series which heavily influenced me (and, according to legend, Traveller itself).
