Technos is an important, high tech world. The system has “rather abundant” resources, which are being exploited heavily; in spite of its relatively low population (there are less than 100 million residents), the system produces and exports “extreme” quantities of ores (refined and somewhat refined), and good quantities of manufactured and consumer goods.
Technos has a small but efficient shipyard, which is not controlled by any of the world’s three governments, producing many ships each year in the 200 to 1000-ton range. These ships are of standard designs for the region, and are in demand due to their reliability and relative low cost. Technos’ shipyard is less effective with small craft, for unexplained reasons. Therefore, most of their ships are manufactured without small craft. However, design variants are available with or without small craft berths, for those ship owners who wish to acquire small craft from another supplier. This attention to customer needs has added to the brands’ reputations.
The system contains a number of other settlements, most of which are involved in manufacturing and mining. Like the main world (which has three separate governments), each settled world is independent, though of necessity reliant on Technos for certain basic needs such as food. The system has a lot of interworld trade, and ships can be seen travelling between the various worlds in well defined, and well patrolled, traffic patterns. The system sees no pirate activity, and hasn’t for quite some time.

This world’s name was taken from that great scifi book series, The Dumarest Saga, written by E.C. Tubb, and published from 1967 to 2008. I make no claim to this world name; I use it only as an homage to a series which heavily influenced me (and, according to legend, Traveller itself).
