Erce is an important, high technology world in the region. The world’s atmosphere is “almost perfect” for humans, though it is rather dry. With a burgeoning population fast approaching 1 billion sophonts, water is in constant demand, and its use is regulated on a consistent basis. “Frontier refueling” in Erce’s oceans is, of course, not permitted. Fortunately, the world’s high technology base allows for efficient use of resources, especially water. Also, unlike lower tech levels, water is not a crucial component in most manufacturing processes.
The system has no planetoid belts, and only a single gas giant. This gas giant is located far outside the normal traffic lanes; the time required to reach the giant is considered unacceptable to most commercial shipping, and most choose to pay the system’s 25% cost markup in order to save time. The system is also rather poor in resources, though it is by no means starved for them. Local industries must ship in many resources from other nearby systems, however. It is feared by industrial analysts there will be a shortage of resources in the coming decades, as nearby sources are depleted. The government is taking these warnings seriously, and is exploring a number of options to combat the potential shortfall.

NOTE: These systems, as generated, are generic. Referees will need to modify the system and descriptions to fit their campaign needs.

This is my 156th hand-generated “System of the Day” entry, using the Traveller5 (T5) rules, from Far Future Enterprises. My goal is to publish one random system per day in 2020.
——————————
This world’s name was taken from that great scifi book series, The Dumarest Saga, written by E.C. Tubb, and published from 1967 to 2008. I make no claim to this world name; I use it only as an homage to a series which heavily influenced me (and, according to legend, Traveller itself).

This system was generated by hand, using my new Traveller dice and the Traveller5 (T5) rules set. Feel free to use this system in your own campaigns. Permission is granted to publish these results, as long as the copyrights of Far Future Enterprises are not violated, and no money is charged for them.
