A minor world, Geshan is a poor desert world, of note mainly for its efficient economy, plus its small craft and vehicle manufacturing industries. In particular, its moles (underground tunneling vehicles) are known for their rugged design and reliability. There are higher tech designs available in other regions, but none are known to be as reliable as those built here, nor as easy to maintain and repair.
Moles are of great use in this world’s vast desert regions, and are used to located and extract minerals, and the rare water aqueducts. These last are difficult to locate even with higher technology sensing gear, due to the high mineral content of the deserts which interfere with most sensors.
Water is very difficult to locate anywhere in this system, and water is highly prized. The main industry in the system’s lone planetoid belt is ice mining, which supplies most of the system’s water and fuel. Unfortunately, this belt is located in an extreme orbit. This drives prices up, of course, resulting in fuel prices being anywhere from 150 to 200% above standard prices (and sometimes much higher). This is all based on local demand, current traffic levels in the system, and other factors. Several companies have attempted to slingshot ice planetoids to Geshan, but the extreme distances which need to be covered, as well as gravitational effects from the system’s massive primary star, have foiled most attempts to use this shipping method.
