Kyle is a society “on the rise”. Just ask its current leader. The government has been spending a large number of credits lately, and some citizens are (quietly) questioning where these credits are coming from. The amount being spent certainly isn’t being gained through taxes, as the world’s economy isn’t that large. Asking such questions out loud has proven dangerous, however; at least one journalist has disappeared recently, and several others have suddenly gone silent on the matter, refusing to discuss it.
Also of note is the appearance of new “associates” around the government offices and, in particular, the world’s starport. These individuals do not originate from Kyle, and many are reported as being rough and, “rather seedy looking”. The world’s leader has refused to comment on the matter, other than a single, mysterious statement: “I was put in power to increase the wealth and influence of our fair world. This comes at a cost, but will pay off in the near future.”
Meanwhile, pirate attacks are increasing in nearby systems, though none have been reported in Kyle’s system. Based on reports, these pirates must have a base of operations nearby, but no evidence of any base has been found in nearby systems.
Some in the region are beginning to suspect these pirates may be based out of Kyle’s starport, though there has been no evidence found to support this suspicion. And the locals certainly aren’t talking…

This world’s name was taken from that great scifi book series, The Dumarest Saga, written by E.C. Tubb, and published from 1967 to 2008. I make no claim to this world name; I use it only as an homage to a series which heavily influenced me (and, according to legend, Traveller itself).
