An important world, Crichi lies along a fairly important regional trade route. It’s high quality starport sees heavy traffic, and its small but excellent quality shipyard provides overhaul, repair and maintenance, and upgrade services to most starships.
Though technically not an industrial world, Crichi’s industries maintain a steady output of quality, high tech trade goods. In particular, its sensors technology, personal, planetary, and shipboard, is noted for its high reliability and ease of use.
The society maintains good facilities in the system’s distant planetoid belts; indeed, these facilities are necessary due to the high volume of local traffic and distance from Crichi. Few, if any, ships enter the inner system due to the lengthy travel times involved; the lack of enticing planets is also another factor.
Crichi itself is a cold world, though this is considered a good thing, as it lies just within the central star’s jump limit. If Crichi were located in the Habitable Zone, travel times to and from the jump limit would inhibit trade. Its atmosphere is also completely unbreathable. Due to this almost the entire society lives underground, with a number of domed facilities dotting the surface. Crichi’s society is known for its desire for new entertainment, and there is a steady stream of visiting artists and musicians. This has forged a small, but influential and popular, artists community. Located within a day’s grav rail travel from the starport, it is a popular side attraction for visiting ship crews and tourists, as well as locals. Although the local law level is rather high, most rules are somewhat relaxed within this community, drawing more visitors. Surprisingly, there is little actual crime in this community, even with relaxes law enforcement. Those shenanigans which do occur here are not tolerated outside of this area; local police are quick to arrest those causing trouble outside the Artists Quarter. Actual incidents, however, are rare, beyond the occasional drunk reveler or two.
