Ponus is an important, high tech world with abundant natural resources. Though not yet classified as an “industrial” world, Ponus’ industries are highly efficient and productive, and their high technology goods are in demand at many worlds in the region.
Ponus maintains an efficient, effective Navy to control traffic in nearby systems; there have been recent increases in unwarranted (possibly pirate) attacks on shipping in nearby systems, and the government is responding by increasing expenditures on local patrol craft, as well as sending patrols into nearby systems – usually in response to reported attacks, sightings of unidentified ships, or at the request of local governments. To date, there have been no Naval contacts with these reported/rumored pirates, though the effort to get the attacks under control is just beginning.
