Nogantu is a minor, backwater system, located off a relatively minor trade route. Devoid of a real atmosphere, the residents live for the most part in hollowed out caverns. A few natural caverns have been found, though none large enough – or stable enough – have been located. A small amount of local food production is conducted here, though the world is a food importer. It has become known, however, for growing certain varieties of mushrooms, which are exported to nearby rich and high population worlds, where they are considered a minor delicacy, used in numerous dishes.
The system, like Nogantu itself, is somewhat scarce of minerals and ores, though the last real, complete survey was completed centuries ago.
In past centuries pirates were known to use the Nogantu system as a base, conducting raids into nearby systems. They were eventually chased out, and the system has remained pirate free for some time. However, piracy is starting to become a problem in the region once again, and there are some growing concerns pirates may try to use the system as a base once more – if they aren’t hidden in the outer system already…
