Vult is a system which has become rather stagnant in recent years. This is due to an ongoing rivalry between two prominent companies in the society. While no open warfare has occurred between the two rivals in recent years, there have been plenty of other problems.
The original source of the conflict was a series of productive mines and mineral strikes, located in the system’s extensive planetoid belts. There were plenty of these finds to make everyone involved rich. However, corporate greed and rivalry has prevented this, with two rival companies grabbing most of the riches for themselves. The conflict between them has spilled over into most aspects of life in the system, especially local politics. This has greatly limited development, and the society’s regional rivals are beginning to surpass Vult in influence and technology. This has been extensively reported locally. But these reports have had little direct impact on the situation.
There is a ray of hope, however. A new political party has been formed. Fueled by local disgust with the current situation, this new political party has managed to grab headlines, and is beginning to make an impact. There has been no visible response from the rival companies to this point, though most skeptics suspect there are ‘big events’ in the works to limit this new party’s power. What these suspected efforts will be, and how much of an impact on the new party they will have, remains to be seen.

This world’s name was taken from that great scifi book series, The Dumarest Saga, written by E.C. Tubb, and published from 1967 to 2008. I make no claim to this world name; I use it only as an homage to a series which heavily influenced me (and, according to legend, Traveller itself).
