The world Harald is located in a system with abundant planets, and abundant resources. Its 46 million inhabitants are spread over the world’s smallest of three continents, which is located in Harald’s only sizeable ocean body. The remainder of the world is being “left wild” for the world’s interesting ecological system, at least for the foreseeable future. It is quickly becoming a favorite of local tourists, however, and it is only a matter of time before these areas will be opened for settlement and exploitation.
The world in orbit 6 is considered “unfit for habitation” – too hot, too dry, too many issues with native flora/fauna. Hunters like it, though, as it is a serious challenge, especially solo. Permits required by the govt to hunt, though these are relatively easy to acquire.
The planetoid belt in orbit 12 is being efficiently mined by a number of companies, each at least partially owned by the planetary government. Over the years it has become a permanent home to a number of the miners’ dependents, and some industry has been relocated here. This small society is growing in importance, and is becoming a large force in the system’s political endeavors.
The iceworld in orbit #13 has only been established within the last year or so. These colonists are still in the process of getting their infrastructure ready. The colony itself was built using prefabricated structures, and was connected to a small series of protected caverns. These caverns will house the bulk of the colony’s power and life support systems.
The system’s very, very distant planetoid belt [in orbit #16] isn’t even close to being fully explored or surveyed; it is far too distant for efficient mining, and it can take days to travel between planetoids which are considered near each other. A small group of independents is working the region. Some of these are actually employed by the government or its companies, performing surveying and sampling, but most are working for themselves, taking advantage of the lack of the absence of organized competition. It is known for its rough and tumble nature. However, true help is difficult to find out here; everyone looks out for each others’ well-being and safety, as everyone will need assistance out here – and usually sooner than later.

NOTE: These systems, as generated, are generic. Referees will need to modify the system and descriptions to fit their campaign needs.

This is my 238th hand-generated “System of the Day” entry, using the Traveller5 (T5) rules, from Far Future Enterprises. My goal is to publish one random system per day in 2020.
——————————
This world’s name was taken from that great scifi book series, The Dumarest Saga, written by E.C. Tubb, and published from 1967 to 2008. I make no claim to this world name; I use it only as an homage to a series which heavily influenced me (and, according to legend, Traveller itself).

This system was generated by hand, using my new Traveller dice and the Traveller5 (T5) rules set. Feel free to use this system in your own campaigns.Permission is granted to publish these results, as long as the copyrights of Far Future Enterprises are not violated, and no money is charged for them.

As always, comments and input are appreciated.
