New Kenor is a minor system. The system was settled primarily as a “rest stop” or refueling point between trade routes, bringing much ship and shipping traffic to the system. However, this plethora of traffic only lasted a short while; more and more merchant shipping began to bypass the world, jumping directly to one of the outlying gas giants. One regional company even established a small refueling station for its ships. These actions ruined the potential boom for New Kenor’s economy, and the world has languished in obscurity since.
New Kenor’s population has slowly increased, as a result of its importance after a recent discovery: a large deposit of lanthanum, vital for interstellar jump drives, was located deep beneath the surface. Now that this mine has been producing ore steadily, New Kenor’s fortunes seem to be on the rise.
And current leadership for the world has apparently learned lessons from the failures of other notable colonial worlds, as well as some of its own mistakes: it is investing profits in local infrastructure, as well as increasing educational opportunities for its citizens. These improvements are beginning to show promise, as the world’s technology levels are slowly increasing.
