Svarog is another minor vacuum world. Located near a trade route between several important industrial worlds, it sees a high volume of traffic, both freighters hauling the ore produced in the system’s mines as well as merchants passing through the system. The world’s starport makes a tidy profit selling fuel and supplies to these ships, as well as some minor starship construction and upkeep. Gaining space in the yards for scheduled maintenance and overhauls can be a challenge, as the shipyard is small for its rating, and its berths are usually scheduled months in advance.
Svarog’s current, popular dictator has been in power for decades. Now in his 93rd year, his health has begun to decline rapidly. Unfortunately, he has not named a successor. His six surviving daughters (his three sons died in combat actions) appear to be lining up for to replace him. As the rules of succession are unclear in this situation, it appears there will be a great deal of political maneuvering, back room deals, and (most likely) assassination attempts. Each of his daughters has differing ideas on how Svarog’s economy should be run, and there will undoubtedly be attempts by various parties to influence the eventual outcome. This will undoubtedly prove to be a historic era for the world, and many parties are gathering to await (or, perhaps, influence) the eventual outcome.
