Zakym is a rich, important world. Located along a major regional trade route, the world sees extensive ship traffic. Although it’s technology isn’t as developed as some other worlds, Zakym’s technology is more than sufficient for its needs.
Over the centuries, Zakym’s citizens have managed to Not destroy or damage the world’s ecology, as humans have managed to do on so many other worlds. There are significant patches of land which have remained mostly untampered with; these areas are a significant tourist draw and attraction, though great care is taken to ensure tourists generate minimal impact on these areas.
A significant portion of Zakym’s economic output is derived from the system’s planetoid belts, in particular the belt located in the companion star system. Many industrial businesses have been relocated to this belt over the years, where manufacturing processes are made easier due to the general lack of gravitational interference. Being much closer to resources also keeps production costs down. A number of other planets and moons around the system are also being utilized, one as a research outpost (mainly interstellar data anomalies), the remainder in mining pursuits. While these operations are not as significant as the planetoid belts, they still provide local industries with needed ores.

This world’s name was taken from that great scifi book series, The Dumarest Saga, written by E.C. Tubb, and published from 1967 to 2008. I make no claim to this world name; I use it only as an homage to a series which heavily influenced me (and, according to legend, Traveller itself).
