Lychen is a very rich, agricultural garden world. The government has contracted with mining corporations from nearby industrial systems to mine and process the planetoid belts. It has used the income from these operations to pay for various infrastructure upgrades and improvements, as well as upgraded defenses for the world (ie, mercenary units and patrol craft).
The people of Lychen like offworlders – as long as they remain offworld; other than visits for trade and limited tourism, they are encouraged to move on in short order. The government’s official statements on the matter refer to protection of the world’s ecological system, and the society’s way of life. The reality is likely different; they don’t like offworlders particularly, and enjoy their pristine world and living conditions.
There are occasional rumors stating the locals engage in nefarious activities – indentured servitude, or worse, is frequently mentioned – but a number of investigations by private parties have turned up absolutely no evidence of this sort of activity. Of course, any world is a large place, and with so few residents on Lychen it could be easy for such activities to remain hidden.

This is my 276th hand-generated “System of the Day” entry, using the Traveller5 rules, from Far Future Enterprises. My goal is to publish one random system per day in 2020.
——————————
This world’s name was taken from that great scifi book series, The Dumarest Saga, written by E.C. Tubb, and published from 1967 to 2008. I make no claim to this world name; I use it only as an homage to a series which heavily influenced me (and, according to legend, Traveller itself).

This system was generated by hand, using my new Traveller dice and the Traveller5 rules set. Feel free to use this system in your own campaigns. Permission is granted to publish these results, as long as the copyrights of Far Future Enterprises are not violated, and no money is charged for them.

As always, comments and input are appreciated.
KEEP ON TRAVELLING!
