Lahamu, a poor, minor world, orbits a very large, hot star. Fortunately for the local economy, the world is located well outside the primary star’s jump limit, allowing for easy access to regional markets. Fuel for interstellar ships is difficult to obtain cheaply here (unless ship captains are willing to endure long travel times to reach the system’s lone, distant gas giant), so the starport can (and does) charge a premium for fuel.
A majority of the system’s other planetary bodies are located far inside the star’s jump limit. As a result, most of the other worlds in system are largely ignored. The sole exception is a small corporate facility on the system’s 5th world (orbit #5), which is surveying in search of valuable ores. Conditions are tough for the surveyors, due to a total lack of water and extreme temperatures. Any future mining operations will need to account for the water deficiency, which will surely drive up the costs of operations.
