Edge is a somewhat important agricultural world, known for some of its grain and the alcohols produced from it. In particular, certain brands of “old style” hard liquors are becoming quite popular with the elite on various nearby worlds. This has increased demand, and thus prices, for the famed liquor. There are a number of new “upstart” distilleries attempting to cash in on the bonanza, fueling competition and some resentment from the original distilleries which began the trend.
Edge is a very desirable world for human settlement, and there have been large increases in applications for settlement from off world. The government is working to keep immigration to a minimum; they have seen the results of over-settlement on other worlds in the region, and the world’s populace does not want to follow other worlds down that particular path. Large expanses of Edge are still pristine wilderness, and government agencies are reluctant to open more areas for settlement and development. Another factor in their desire to limit the influx of people: much of the pressure for settlement appears to be sponsored by various off-world corporations, in particular banking and investment firms.
One side “industry” of note on Edge is its hunting; most of Edge’s current population resides on the smallest (of three) major continents. There is an abundance of wildlife on the other continents. A number of dangerous animals can be found there, predators as well as territorial herbivores, and there is increasing interest in hunting them. Currently due to preservation laws, very few hunters are allowed to conduct safaris, with reservations being booked at least a year in advance. There is increasing evidence, however, that illegal hunting is occurring on at least one continent. Government agencies have so far found no direct evidence of violations, but are continuing to look into the matter.

This is my 282nd hand-generated “System of the Day” entry, using the Traveller5 rules, from Far Future Enterprises. My goal is to publish one random system per day in 2020.
——————————
This world’s name was taken from that great scifi book series, The Dumarest Saga, written by E.C. Tubb, and published from 1967 to 2008. I make no claim to this world name; I use it only as an homage to a series which heavily influenced me (and, according to legend, Traveller itself).

This system was generated by hand, using my new Traveller dice and the Traveller5 rules set.
Feel free to use this system in your own campaigns. Permission is granted to publish these results, as long as the copyrights of Far Future Enterprises are not violated, and no money is charged for them.
