Ahlklha is an average world, but one with a poor environment. Rioting over living conditions has occurred in the past, and the subsequent crackdown allowed a local dictator to arise during the turmoil. This dictator is long gone, having been replaced in subsequent coups. The current dictator is very unpopular with a majority of citizens, and restrictions on almost all activities have been in place for some time. This has only fueled rebellion on the world.
All imports into Ahlklha are very closely scrutinized, usually using higher technology scanning equipment (imported at great expense), to prevent importation of weapons to any of the many rebel groups currently operating (or rumored to be operating) on the world. Those few smugglers who were caught importing weapons were executed – immediately, and in public view at customs – as examples, and warnings.
Those smugglers with their own ships have had their vessels impounded, with such vessels being converted for use as patrol and customs craft. In the early days of the rebellion a number of such attempts were intercepted; these were mainly tramp freighters and several small craft. These vessels are beginning to wear down, as local technology isn’t sufficient to properly maintain these vessels, and a majority of nearby worlds which do possess the technology have instituted a ban on trade of such components to Ahlklha. Some of these bans are an attempt to force a government change, though some are in retaliation for seisure of trade ships based on those worlds. Political tensions are somewhat elevated, though no repercussions are expected from Ahlklha’s current leadership.
