Andon is a minor world, but one which is growing in importance. The society has a very efficient economy, though its technology is behind interstellar standards. Even so, its processes are innovative, and its industries efficient, and its commercial products are in demand even on worlds with much greater technology.
The Andon government has only recently completed upgrades to its starport facilities, in a bid to increase trade, as well as demand for its products. It is hoped that the increase in trade created by this upgrade will increase the base technology of the society. Surveys of the system’s worlds have been completed for some time. These worlds are being held in reserve for future needs. Several nearby, higher tech worlds have agreed to provide patrols for the outer system worlds, keeping these resources intact (and visiting ships safe), in exchange for future preferential pricing for these resources. These agreements have worked well to keep the system secure.
Andon itself is a smaller world. Its atmosphere is tainted by seasonal pollen, which a majority of humans are allergic to, as well as high levels of dust. This dust is known to create problems for industrial processes, and also can cause long term cancer in humans, if over-exposure occurs. Because of these factors, almost all buildings are sealed, with all citizens being more than aware of the dangers of exposure. Offworld visitors are warned about the issues, and advised to follow all rules and signage as posted.
