Jezzo is an unimportant vacuum world which has seen better times. The starport has become neglected over the years, as funds to maintain it have been diverted, and as the world’s technology (and thus income producing potential) has decreased. The society now has a difficult time maintaining its life supporting structures, and must import the needed technology and expertise from other worlds. This, along with an increased population, has created a drain on the economy.
The societies in the system’s planetoid belts have long been independent from Jezzo, paying no taxes or support. There is increasing concern from these two smaller societies, however, and there is now growing support for providing some form of assistance to Jezzo, in order to prevent a major catastrophe. Neither of these smaller communities is capable of providing more than financial support, however, due to their low tech levels. What they will do remains to be seen.
