With fewer than one thousand residents. Sycha is another backwater system. Not being located on a local trade route, the system’s small colony was ignored, and residents fend for themselves. Maybe one half reside near the starport, with the remainder being wandering prospectors, hunters, and hermits.
There is no established system of governance on Sycha. Locals have agreed to a general “no explosives” rule, though there is no way to enforce it, of course. Since there is no real infrastructure, other than the starport being “there”, there are no services available, other than what is occasionally imported to replenish the port’s meager stockpile of spare parts. True to form on many backwater worlds, there are several bars, each serving overly expensive imported alcohol or yeasty local beer of execrable quality and reliability.
The world does see an occasional starship pass through, as a desperate or curious trader makes his way to nearby systems. Very rarely is an actual cargo available for purchase – usually some pelts, some ore from a lucky fine, and the like. These cargoes, rare and feeble as they are, do little to attract others to Sycha, and it is likely the world will forever be classified as a backwater, a world to be ignored.
