Varda is a very important industrial world. Known specifically for its chemical industries, it is also well known for it materials fabrication plants. Varda Steel (which isn’t really steel; think high tech composites) is in demand throughout the region, especially for vehicle armor and starship hulls. As the world’s environment isn’t exactly conducive to easy living, a wide segment of Varda’s industrial output goes towards making everyone’s lives more comfortable. Much of this production is also in demand on other worlds, adding to the world’s trade.
No other worlds in the system have been settled, not even any of the moons. The only other real candidate for settlement is the radioactive world the next orbit in from Varda (orbit #4). Radiation levels (as well as the world’s high baseline temperature) make this world unsuitable for colonization; a survey in past years determined there aren’t enough accessible mineral deposits to be worth it.
A number of “hidden” sensor arrays and satellites have been placed around the system, however, to monitor traffic, as there have been problems with pirate raids in past years. The local navy maintains a fleet of powerful monitors, which patrol the system regularly (and in force), and a sizeable fleet of fighter craft patrol the spacelanes near the main world.
NOTE: These systems, as generated, are generic. Referees will need to modify the system and descriptions to fit their campaign needs.
