Iahamu (generally pronounced “Ya-ha-moo”) is a somewhat important world, even with its low population level and less than ideal living conditions. The society’s higher general technology level compensates for its lack of manpower, and the economy makes extensive use of robotics in non-essential positions; visitors to the world are usually greeted by advanced robotic administrators, for instance, and repair and maintenance bots are a common sight.
Iahamu’s starport is small, but is very well run; its shipyard constructs few ships each year, but is a common destination for ship repairs, maintenance, and upgrades.
Iahamu itself has little actual industrial production, other than some robotics gear and the occasional ship. Most of its commercial effort involves mining the system’s main planetoid belt (orbit #4), shipping ores to nearby industrial worlds.
