Olvadi is an important agricultural world in the region. Located at the junction of several important trade routes, the world has continued to grow in importance. Olvadi’s starport was long ago improved to handle the fairly large volume of ship traffic which visits the system. This port is run by a neutral agency, charged with maintaining the port, enforcing laws and regulations, an patrolling the system. This agency reports to a committee made up of representatives of the four local governments.
The world has long been divided. Each current government has been in power for centuries, and each rules roughly one-quarter of the world’s surface and population. This division was originally developed from competing agricultural combines, each with differing ideas as to how things should be run. These days, there are few differences between them, and tradition keeps them separated. There has been no call, nor even discussion, to consider merging them into a single, unified government.
