Hyldemoer is an overpopulated garden world, with a powerful economy. The world is controlled by a religious state, ruled by a single leader. To the populace, this leader is the Voice Of God, reflected in the technology of the society. He (the current leader is male, though there have also been many female leaders) is advised by a religious council, who help interpret events and determine actions. To the public, this council exists solely to assist the leader and enforce his will.
In reality, this council is in control of the world’s religion and government, and thus in control of the world’s leader – he is a figurehead only. This fact is generally known to those outside the system, and anyone performing any business with the world is instead dealing with one of the council’s factions. Currently there are eleven factions, each controlled by a single leader. Only a tiny percentage of the world’s population are permitted contact with offworlders, and all interactions are constantly supervised (controlled) by religious leaders. It is known that offworlders interact with only a single faction on the world’s government, usually the same exact individual(s), so it is theorized there is a high level of disagreement between the world’s factions, possibly even outright conflict at times. Unfortunately it has proven nearly impossible for offworlders to verify any suspicions or facts regarding the world’s political issues.
Several other worlds have been colonized in the Hyldemoer system. The hot, tidally locked world in the system’s first orbit was initially settled as an agricultural colony. This world’s situation (tidally locked, hot environment) has limited its usefulness in this regard, but it has been converted into a penal colony, where several million dissidents toil in various mines. The world in the system’s third orbit is where the majority of the system’s mass industrial production occurs.
There is one independent world in the system, in the 11th orbit. This frozen world was settled by refugees from another system, who fled here escaping a war zone. The religious leaders of Hyldemoer allowed these refugees to settle there, following the precepts of their religion. These settlers have, in general, kept to themselves, and sell small quantities of mined ores to Hyldemoer to support themselves. By agreement, they can only sell ore and purchase items directly from Hyldemoer. This arrangement has posed no problems for their survival. It has been noted, however, that religious leaders have never allowed the sale of higher technology items to these refugees, and heavier “anti-piracy” patrols are maintained in the outer system (using ships purchased from offworld).

NOTE: These systems, as generated, are generic. Referees will need to modify the system and descriptions to fit their campaign needs.
