Byorma is an unimportant, low population system on the edge of a main trade route. The world’s four million inhabitants reside in underground habitats, as is typical for such worlds. There are, of course, a number of small domed installations dotting the surface near the main habitats.
Byorma was chosen as the main world for settlement due to its proximity to the star’s jump limit, and the presence of non-surface ice fields beneath the world’s poles. This allows for easy extraction of water and starship fuel. There are several grav rail links between these polar mining settlements and the main habitations along the world’s equator. Because of the world’s low gravity and lack of an atmosphere, grav rail cars are able to attain great speeds, and the trips are relatively short. There are, of course, also side or “feeder” routes connecting to numerous mines and remote stations on the world. All of these settlements and mines are located in the same hemisphere on the world, so these gravitic rails do not cross the entire world.
There are a number of small settlements on other worlds in the system. For the most part these are mining, survey, or research posts.
The system’s two planetoid belts are located in extreme orbits around the central star, and are considered far too distant from Byoma to consider investigating in full. A handful of private prospectors (belt miners) were once operating in these areas, searching for deposits. Unfortunately, these belters have all but disappeared recently; there has been no contact with any of their ships, and no transmissions have been detected. Unfortunately, the government does not have the resources to investigate the situation. It is unknown if these disappearances are due to accidents, pirates, the belters just leaving, or… something else. While accidents do happen, it is highly unlikely every belter would suffer accidents around the same time period, and it is even more unlikely for them to just leave the system without contacting anyone. The situation will likely remain unresolved until the government can spare resources to investigate the region.

NOTE: These systems, as generated, are generic. Referees will need to modify the system and descriptions to fit their campaign needs.
