The Peridot system is very unimportant, and located no where near any major trade route. The system is a real backwater, with no government in control. The class C starport is located in orbit, while the facilities on planet are rated as “D”, at best. Having any repairs performed here is expensive, ruinously so; ship captains who must utilize the local repair facilities can expect to pay at least triple the normal price for labor. Parts, if they can be found, cost even more. Ship supplies and normal services are better priced, running an average of 150% above regional averages.
Surprisingly, there are few reported issues with pirates near Peridot; it is rumored they have an agreement with several gangs here, and keep their distance. Other rumors state there is nothing here to attract pirates to the area; given the lack of traffic and even lower availability of cargoes, this is much more likely. Even with the apparent absence of piracy problems, the system is still unsafe for most ships and visitors. Warnings are posted in nearby systems, alerting potential visitors of the system’s problems and lack of services.
