Paiyar is an influential, productive world, lying on a major trade route. It’s citizens enjoy a high standard of living, and the world’s industries are efficiently run.
Paiyar’s new leader took over from her Grandfather just over one year ago. The previous Grand Leader (backed by conservative social and industrial leadership) promoted a “slow but steady” growth pattern, and Paiyar kept its hands out of regional politics. Early indications are the new leader is adopting a more aggressive stance, based on her policies, announcements, and Committee assignments. Whether this leads to greater economic influence or conflicts with Paiyar’s neighbors remains to be determined, but regional analysts are closely monitoring developments.
Paiyar’s efficient industries have essentially mined out the system’s first major planetoid belt (orbit #5), and have moved on to the others, both of which are even more productive.
The icy world in the system’s distant 12th orbit is being explored by a local company. They are testing low temperature equipment, as well as searching for potential minerals or resources. This world’s extremely low temperatures make for a perfect testing environment for the company’s numerous products.
The next world in (orbit #11) has been claimed by several groups of refugees from the region. Fleeing dangerous conditions on their former homeworlds, these 20000-odd souls seek to be left in peace. Paiyar’s previous administration left these people alone, but the new Grand Leader’s thoughts on the matter are currently unknown.

This world’s name was taken from that great scifi book series, The Dumarest Saga, written by E. C. Tubb, and published from 1967 to 2008. I make no claim to the name; I am only using it as an homage to a series which heavily influenced me (and, according to legend, Traveller itself).
